Our popular range of handcrafted cutlery, "Nostalgia" creamhandled cutlery ("faux" bone) has been improved! It still evokes images of days gone by - warm hospitality, mellow evenings and a wholesome age.

Bone handled cutlery has graced tables in Britain and around the world for generations. Originally made of ivory and then bone, in the 1950s this was replaced by Xylonite which was unfortunately highly flammable. For the last 20 or so years, it has been made from a material called Rhodoid which has a lovely subtle grain but it is not dishwasher safe. Now, a totally plain creamhandle has been developed that is actually dishwasher safe. So Chimo is pleased to offer both versions of these handles which are a pleasure to hold and use - the traditional grained Rhodoid or the totally plain dishwasher safe. Neither discolour, so retaining the traditional appearance without compromising on environmentally friendly issues, to create this elegant and very popular "faux" bone range.

Each piece continues to be individually handcrafted by our own highly skilled cutlers in our Sheffield factory, guaranteeing attractive and extremely durable cutlery of the highest quality. Although sold mostly as replacement cutlery for old canteens it also matches Old English & Rattail cutlery particularly well.

Please note: the grained Rhodoid handles are NOT suitable for dishwashers & should only be washed in hand-warm water, but the plain cream handles ARE dishwasher safe.
